In the same time Berlin is quite a young city. It was founded in 1237 on river Spree. It had been growing rapidly, uniting new settlements on its edges. A town with amazing fortune, it changed its roles on historical path, turning from a big trade place into military and then industrial, scientific and cultural center. On the age of Enlightenment and XVII century reminds magnificent castle of Charlottenburg, Brandenburg Gate, Neue-Wache building and queer Zeughause. XIX century with its industrial revolution and raise of population left Red City Hall, Reichstag Building and Berliner Dom.
Nowadays Berlin is one of the most popular touristic cities of Germany. It is in the list of ten most popular tourist attractions in the world, and there are many good reasons why: here situated lots of sights to see, such as historical buildings and monuments, unique and wide museum exhibitions, ancient castles, large green parks and by the way there are lots of free places to see in Berlin too. Nowadays Berlin with population of 3,5 million people is the most populated city in Europe after London. It lives an active and vibrant life being a successful business and cultural center. Painting, sculpture, design, photography, fashion and other fine arts can be found not just in Berlin museums but right on the streets.
