Former Air Defense Tower
This wouldn’t be a beautiful masterpiece of architecture, but quite an ugly concrete building, symbol and repercussion of the 2nd World War. Hamburg was one of three cities, chosen for building Air Defense Towers. These towers were constructed and built perfectly for their purpose – they were almost indestructible, dangerous for airplanes and a good shelter for people at the time of bombing. All of them came undamaged through the war, so we can still admire their rough strength.
